Confirm your platform and engine before ordering parts. The Ram 1500 Classic (DS) was sold alongside the 2019–2024 DT, and EcoDiesel and TRX use different oil filters and air filters than the 3.6 and 5.7. When in doubt, look it up by VIN.

Quick reference

Ram 1500 maintenance schedule 2019–2024 at a glance

Factory-style intervals for 2019–2024 Ram 1500 (DT) trucks under normal driving. The oil-life monitor sets oil timing on most builds—treat mileage figures as maximums, not fixed targets. Towing, eTorque, and dusty jobsite use still favor earlier air filters and axle fluids; see the towing section below.

Per oil-life monitor · at least yearly

Engine oil & filter

The 4th-gen Ram uses an oil-life monitor that tracks load, temperature, and trip patterns. Highway use can stretch intervals, but towing, hauling, short cold trips, and idling shorten them. Change oil at least once a year even if the monitor hasn’t triggered.

Many 3.6 and 5.7 gas engines specify 0W-20 or 5W-20—read the filler cap. eTorque mild-hybrid trucks still need conventional oil and filter service on the gas engine. EcoDiesel and TRX use different oil and filters.

  • Oil filter — 3.6 Pentastar / eTorque68191349AC

Cartridge Mopar filter for most 3.6L applications.

  • Oil filter — 5.7 HEMI / eTorque4892339BE

Spin-on Mopar filter for most 5.7L (supersedes 4892339AA/AB). TRX / EcoDiesel differ—VIN check.

3.6 capacity
Often ~6 qt (~5.7 L)
3.6 and 5.7 oil filters are not interchangeable. EcoDiesel and TRX: confirm dedicated filters on store.mopar.com.
If you tow or run short trips, set a 5,000–7,500 mile (8,000–12,000 km) oil reminder in Carmainty instead of waiting for the monitor.

Every oil service

Tire rotation & brake inspection

Rotate at every oil service and measure tread. 4x4 and towing trucks need matched depths to protect axles, transfer case, and ABS. Inspect pads, rotors, and lines at the same visit—heavy payloads and trailers accelerate wear.

Every 20,000–30,000 miles (32,000–48,000 km)

Cabin air filter

DT trucks have a factory cabin filter behind the glove box—replace every 20,000–30,000 miles (32,000–48,000 km) or annually, and sooner in dusty or pollen-heavy areas. Weak HVAC airflow or a musty smell with the A/C on are the usual signs.

  • Cabin filter68535623AA

Current Mopar cabin element for many DT trucks (supersedes 68406048AA / 68318365AA).

Every 30,000 miles (48,000 km)

Engine air filter

Replace about every 30,000 miles (48,000 km) under normal use; inspect earlier on unpaved roads or jobsites. Engine air part numbers vary by powertrain—HEMI vs 3.6 vs EcoDiesel vs TRX.

  • Engine air filter — 5.7 HEMI (common)68414387AA

    Common DT 5.7 element—confirm 3.6 / EcoDiesel / TRX alternatives by VIN.

Per engine chart · coolant per manual

Spark plugs & coolant

Spark-plug intervals and part numbers vary by engine and build year—confirm in your owner’s manual rather than guessing. Check coolant level and condition yearly; towing and hot climates justify earlier service.

This page does not list spark-plug or coolant part numbers because they vary by engine and year. Look them up by VIN on store.mopar.com.

Severe service / 4x4

Axle, transfer case & transmission

Towing, commercial use, and deep water mean earlier axle and transfer-case fluid than the “normal” chart. Inspect axle fluids around 30,000–60,000 miles (48,000–96,000 km); replace if discolored or after hard off-road use.

Transmission service intervals are long but not infinite on hard-worked trucks. Many owners service ATF around 60,000 miles (96,000 km) under towing—use the fluid specified for your transmission.

If you actually use your truck

Towing & severe use maintenance schedule

Normal-driving intervals assume light loads and highway miles. Regular towing, heavy payloads, jobsite dust, extreme heat, or lots of idling count as severe use—and the schedule shortens. This is where many Ram 1500 owners under-maintain the truck.

The “long-life” fluid trap: light commuting may never need an early ATF service, but regular trailer, camper, or boat towing heats the transmission hard. Fluid service around 60,000 miles (96,000 km) is far cheaper than a rebuild.

Every 5,000–7,500 mi (8,000–12,000 km) instead of waiting on the monitor alone
Transmission fluid
Consider ~60,000 mi (96,000 km) under towing—use spec for your transmission
Front / rear axle fluid
Inspect every 30,000 mi (48,000 km); replace if overdue or contaminated
Transfer case (4x4)
Replace about every 60,000 mi (96,000 km) when towing or off-roading
Brake fluid
Every 2 years instead of 3
Engine air filter
Inspect every 15,000 mi (24,000 km) on dirt roads or jobsites
Cabin air filter
Replace annually in dusty or high-pollen areas
Coolant
Check more often; consider earlier service for hard towing

3.6L and 5.7L eTorque — 48V mild hybrid

eTorque mild-hybrid maintenance notes

eTorque adds a belt-driven motor-generator and a 48V battery to selected 3.6L and 5.7L trucks. It smooths stop-start and adds assist torque, but it does not replace the gas engine’s normal service—oil, filter, air filter, and fluids follow the same schedule.

Oil filters stay the same as non-eTorque trucks: 68191349AC on the 3.6 and 4892339BE on the 5.7. Don’t stretch oil intervals just because it’s a mild hybrid, especially if you tow.

Do not work on 48V components yourself. If you see eTorque or hybrid-system warnings, have a Ram dealer diagnose it—high-voltage service needs the right tools and procedures.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I change oil in a 2019–2024 Ram 1500?

When the oil-life monitor says so—and at least yearly. Towing and severe use often land between 5,000 and 7,500 miles (8,000–12,000 km). Gas engines typically specify 0W-20 or 5W-20; confirm the filler cap.

Which oil filter does my 2019–2024 Ram need?

Most 3.6L (including eTorque): Mopar 68191349AC. Most 5.7L (including eTorque): 4892339BE. EcoDiesel and TRX differ—look up on store.mopar.com with your VIN.

Is Ram 1500 Classic the same as this page?

Not always. Classic continues the older DS platform alongside 2019–2024 DT trucks. Confirm platform / VIN before ordering filters; DS trucks may follow the 2009–2018 schedule and part numbers.

What are the cabin and engine air filter numbers for a 2019–2024 Ram 1500?

Cabin filter for many DT trucks: Mopar 68535623AA (~20,000–30,000 miles (32,000–48,000 km)). Common 5.7 engine air filter: 68414387AA (~30,000 miles (48,000 km)). Confirm 3.6, EcoDiesel, and TRX by VIN.

Does towing change my Ram 1500 maintenance schedule?

Yes. Under severe/towing use: oil every 5,000–7,500 miles (8,000–12,000 km), inspect axle fluids every 30,000, transfer case and transmission fluid around 60,000 miles (96,000 km), and brake fluid about every 2 years. Air filters also need earlier inspection on dirt roads.

Does eTorque change oil or filter requirements?

No. eTorque trucks use the same oil filters as non-eTorque: 68191349AC on the 3.6L and 4892339BE on the 5.7L. The 48V system adds inspection items but doesn’t replace the gas engine’s normal service.

What about EcoDiesel and TRX maintenance?

Both need VIN-specific oil, filter, and air-filter lookups. We don’t list part numbers for them here—use store.mopar.com or a Ram dealer rather than gas-engine numbers.

Is this the same as the 2009–2018 Ram 1500?

No. 2009–2018 trucks are the 3rd gen with different cabin and air filter numbers and no eTorque. See the 2009–2018 schedule linked below.

Is there an app to track this Ram 1500 schedule?

Yes—Carmainty lets you log mileage, set reminders for each interval on this page, attach receipts, and track multiple vehicles. Free to download on the App Store and Google Play.
